What kind of assistance can I get?
The Salvation Army assists with rent, utility bills (except phone) and limited other kids of assistance (prescriptions, food pantry, transportation).  Persons seeking help must first have asked for help from public funds (Township Trustee, CAGI, WAF, EFSP/FEMA).  This bill/lease must be in the name of the adult seeking assistance or their spouse/partner/roommate.

How much help can I receive?
Assistance is limited to the last amount of a bill) no matter what type).  If you have a utility bill that is $250 we will help you with up to the last $100 IF you can show that the balance of the bill has been paid, is promised by another agency or that a payment arrangement has been made and will be kept.  For rental assistance, the lease must name the persons living at the address.  Assistance may be provided up to $300 of one month’s rent.  Assistance is based on funds available.  There is no guarantee that The Salvation Army will be able to meet all needs.

What do I need to bring to get assistance?
You must bring a picture ID, utility bill (copy or disconnect notice) or lease (depending on the assistance you are seeking).  If you are asking for other kids of assistance, you must bring picture ID and any documentation which might help the case manager make a decision.

The Salvation Army does not help with the cost of funerals.  We can offer assistance in the form of spiritual counseling.

The Salvation Army does not have furniture or household items to give persons who have experienced a house fire.  Please contact the American Red Cross or the People’s Burn Foundation “Extinguish the Need” at 1-877-814-2024 to see what donations they have.
